Partner Card Performance, For Your Reference

Sebastian did his level best to offer a fair review of the new Radeon RX 6600 XT, not an easy undertaking once the performance became obvious.  If you are currently running an RX 5700 XT you already know you can outperform an RTX 3060 in everything but ray tracing and that is exactly what you will get with an RX 6600 XT.

There is one improvement AMD can claim however, the total power draw of our test system dropped almost 100W when the RX 5700 XT was swapped for an RX 6600 XT and that could be handy for certain builds … or mindsets.

The FPS Review is still working on performance results, so today they focused on why the performance of this RDNA 2 card is at the level it is by delving into the architecture.  The size of the Infinity Cache is certainly a factor, while the RX 6700 XT sports 96MB, the RX 6600 has been drastically cut to 32MB which will lower the cards performance.

In addition the memory bandwidth has shrunk even more, the RX 6600 XT sports a mere 128 bits, as opposed to the 192-bit found on the RX 6700 XT.  That too will slow performance, even with Smart Memory Access turned on.   Take a read through a detailed look at the overall architecture of the new GPU here, or check out more reviews below.
