OK, So It’s Not A CRT But It Still Has 280Hz
Perhaps one needs to be brighter to come up with a twist on backlights, perhaps DisplayHDR400 bright like the Asus TUF Gaming VG279QM is. With this 27″ IPS display ASUS chose to focus on response rate, pumping it all the way up to 280Hz for both AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync users. Those that have already done the math know what they had to sacrifice to hit that frequency and indeed you are correct, this is a 1080p display.
There are two built in 2W speakers and it offers two HDMI 2.0 and a single DisplayPort 1.2 but it lacks a USB hub if that is something you need in a monitor. The stand is a bit limited in options, you get a tilt of 5o forward, 33o backward however the height adjustment of 130mm and swivel of 180o are both quite acceptable.
Kitguru were impressed with the colour reproduction once they calibrated it with a SpyderX Elite but the brightness uniformity did leave a bit to be desired. If you want the most frames money can by though, check out the full review.
