Monitoring 2020’s Greatest Hits – 1440p Edition

Which Flavour Would You Prefer?  TN, IPS Or VA?

TechSpot have gone through the various 1440p gaming monitors they have reviewed and broken them down into two sections, the best overall and the best value priced models, with a winner for each display type.  LG’s 27GL850 27″ Ultragear Nano IPS takes top spot in that category thanks to it’s impressive 5ms response time, which beats just about any other IPS display on the market which is very beneficial on 144 Hz display with adaptive sync support.  However if it is speed you are after then the HP Omen X 27 240Hz is what you are looking for, the fastest TN panel TechSpot has had the pleasure of working with.   Those who prefer to sacrifice speed for accurate colours and proper black levels tend to shop for VA panels and the LG 32GK650F QHD 32″ offers a lot to the prospective buyer.

For those on a budget, the prices of those three might be a bit daunting and for the most part a VA panel is not what you desire, so there are two more models to consider.  The Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD 27″ is about the most cost effective way to get your hands on a 144Hz IPS display, assuming you can find one as they are often out of stock.  Those who are more interested in the benefits of a VA panel have a couple of choices, including the Viotek GN27D 27″ or AOC’s CQ27G1/G2 which offer great contrast at the cost of a 7-8ms response rate which can mean a bit of difficulty reaching a proper 144Hz refresh rate.

There are quite a few reviews and details to go through which will come in handy if you are looking for a display that will serve you well in the coming years.
