The best new movie trailers and TV show teasers for upcoming streaming titles

Elves

Elves are perhaps best known as the toy-making, pointy hat-wearing friends of Santa. But this Danish show turns that notion entirely on its head. What initially appears to be a fun family Christmas series about reconnecting with loved ones turns into a life or death struggle against monsters out to reclaim one of their own. The six-part limited-run show feels a little like Midnight Mass, so if you’re a fan of the supernatural, this may be an alternative holiday viewing choice.

Voir

This series of video essays from David Fincher and David Prior deconstruct some of the greatest movies in our time and aim to understand why cinema remains one of the most impactful storytelling mediums. It’s unclear which films will go under the microscope, but we do get fleeting glimpses of The Matrix, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Kill Bill, and more. Guess we’ll need to wait and see just how many essays we get after the first drops on December 6

Single All The Way

Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers star in this cheesy Christmas romance as best friends Peter and Nick. When Peter dreads the thought of spending another Christmas with his family single, he asks Nick to pretend to be his partner. Per the traditional romance flick formula, this arrangement falls apart soon after Peter’s mother sets him up with another man. But are Peter and Nick destined to be friends forever, or something more? Well, you can see how the story ends on December 2.

Back To The Outback

A group of animals, growing tired of the confines of the zoo, escape to the hostile Australian Outback. Joined by a reluctant koala Pretty Boy (Tim Minchin) and led by a friendly blue taipan Maddy (Isla Fisher), the group tries desperately to foil the capture of a zookeeper, played by Eric Bana. The animated flick has an all-star cast of Australian and New Zealand talent, including Keith Urban, Rachel House, Guy Pearce, and Miranda Tapsell.

Being The Ricardos

Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem star in this Aaron Sorkin-directed drama about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s complicated personal and public relationship. Per the synopsis, the film peeks “into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage, and behind closed doors with Ball and Arnaz during one critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy.” Being The Ricardos hits theaters on December 10 before heading to Amazon Prime Video 11 days later.

‘Twas The Fight Before Christmas

This Apple TV Plus documentary focuses on Jeremy Morris, an Idaho resident utterly obsessed with bringing Christmas cheer to his part of the world. But after organizing a massive Christmas-themed event in his sleepy neighborhood, he’s threatened with legal action. The documentary drops on November 26.
